This year, 22 Ukrainian artists , despite the postponement of the exhibition dates by exactly one year and the almost complete lack of funding for the organization of the process from state institutions, presented their works at one of the largest contemporary art exhibitions in Europe – Nord Art .
On August 11, 2021, a delegation of organizers arrived at the Ukrainian pavilion of NordArt, and yesterday, August 12, 2021, at 5:00 PM, the curators of the exhibition Yevhen Karas and Daryna Momot conducted a curatorial tour and documented the exhibition of over 2,000 sq. m. An industrial monument - the building of the former Carlshütte foundry and part of the territory of the ancient sculpture park - was allocated for the exhibition space.

Nord Art, which brings together artists from all over the world, takes place every year in the city of Büdelsdorf in northern Germany. At the end of 2019, Ukraine was announced as the central country of Nord Art-2020. However, in 2020, the event was forcibly canceled due to the risks associated with Covid-19. The title of the Ukrainian exhibition – “Borders of Reality” – was originally intended to describe the present of the largest country in Europe, expressed in the language of art. However, now, when the pandemic has left humanity in a state of complete uncertainty and reality has turned out to be extremely shaky, this title has acquired a global meaning.
Each art object is the embodiment of the artist's personal perception and carries a separate emotional context. Photography, sculpture, painting, graphics, three-dimensional compositions, textile collages, installations are created by people who are inside the social processes of the state, which historically and territorially is a place of conflict between European freedoms and the authoritarian system.
NordArt-2021 began on June 5 and will end on October 11 , 2021. Every year, the exhibition in Büdelsdorf is visited by about 100,000 visitors, who choose the best author and give him a special NordArt Public Choice Award. The main prize, the NordArt Prize, is awarded to a participant selected by the jury. The full-scale documentation of the Ukrainian pavilion was made possible thanks to the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.
